Virginia Allows Construction to Continue with Social Distancing Guidelines

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam issued Executive Orders 53 and 55, which allow most businesses to continue to operate, so long as they comply with the CDC sanitation guidelines:

All businesses shall, to the extent possible, adhere to social distancing recommendations, enhanced sanitizing practices on common surfaces, and other appropriate workplace guidance from state and federal authorities while in operation.

Under this Order, construction projects are uninterrupted, subject to the recommendation to practice enhanced hygiene and instruct office staff to work from home if possible.

Governor Northam’s Order does not preempt local orders that may have more strict guidelines, so check city or county guidelines to see if there are any additional required measures.

This Order is in effect in Virginia until June 10.
